Merry CHRISTmas

Today was such a busy day with surprises along the way. I sit here typing, very tired, but reflecting on the past year. I was watching Dustin and Logan playing tonight and remembering how small Logan was last year. He was only 7 months old. This year he is so active and talkative and well on his way to being 2 years old. Not only am I blessed with Dustin and Logan, but God has blessed us with another child that is on the way. I am so thankful for my family.

Tonight, I was wrapping gifts and baking and loved that fact that I could hear Dustin and Logan laughing and playing. I think that around the holidays it is so easy to get caught up in the "hustle and bustle" that we miss these precious moments. I encourage all of you to take time to think about and watch your families and cherish every moment.

Also, I pray that we not forget the real reason for this holiday...Jesus. As we celebrate with our families and loved ones over the next few days, let us also remember the birth of Jesus our Savior and thank Him for all He has done for us and all that we have been blessed with.

Merry Christmas!

Early Christmas Present

Dustin, Logan and I are happy to announce that there will be a new member of the Michels family this coming August 2007! We found out this past weekend that I am pregnant and I had my first doctor's appointment today. Everything seems to be going good according to the doctor. I am only 6 weeks along, so August seems so very far away. This pregnancy came as a bit of a surprise, however, we couldn't be more happy! Please pray with us that the baby will develop as it should and that I will deliver a healthy baby in August. Also, pray that I will have a healthy, normal pregnancy.

FINALLY!!

We seem to all be doing better...finally. Last week was a tough week. In my last post I thought I was on the mend, but the next day proved me wrong. I still have a bit of a cold, but not as bad as last week. Logan is also doing better. He still has a runny nose and cough but he is acting like his normal self. Dustin has been spared our sickness up until now. We pray he doesn't get it!

Something interesting did happen to Dustin last night, though. He was coming down the stairs a bit too quickly to stop Logan from going up the stairs and stepped on a plug to a humidifier and cut the bottom of his foot. Yes, the actual plug went through his sock and cut his foot in one spot and bruised another spot on the bottom of his foot. I know you may be asking what the humidifier was doing on the stairs. Well, we use our upstairs as a storage area and it also houses Dustin's clothes. We tend to line stuff up on the stairs so that when one of us goes up, we can take it all the way up the stairs. I know, we are a bit lazy! : ) We have the upstairs closed off with a door and obviously Logan is not allowed up there. Thus the reason Dustin came back down so quickly to stop Logan. To make a long (yes long!) story short, he spent a few hours in the emergency today. Thankfully nothing major is wrong, but he is in a lot of pain. He is supposed to stay off of it for the next two days. This means that he most likely will go back to work tomorrow! MEN!!!

So, we are hoping to be healed of all our ailments in order to enjoy Christmas and New Years! We have a busy schedule that starts this weekend, but we are very excited! I can't wait for Logan to open his Christmas gifts this year! He is such a big boy and Dustin and I were just talking tonight about how he is becoming a little man!

Oh, one more funny story. I took Logan to get his pictures taken this morning. The plan was for Dustin to go with me and help but he was at the hospital so I went alone with my boy. Every time Logan has gone to have pictures taken, he has been great...until today! Now, if you were to see the proofs you would never imagine what an ordeal I went through with him. He has the most beautiful smile in all of the pictures, but trying to get him to sit or stand up alone for the photographer to take his picture was a mess. He would cling to me and fuss and then the photographer would get his attention at the last minute and make him laugh. After 6 pictures, and me sweating up a storm, I decided that was enough. I thanked the photographer and asked him if he thought we got at least one good picture, and sure enough they all were great! What started off rocky ended up priceless.

I hope everyone has a good, healthy and safe week!

A House Full of Sick People

The title of this post speaks for itself. Logan and I have been sick all day. My sickness started last Wednesday and progressively got worse as the days went on. Yesterday, I didn't even take a shower I felt so bad! I am feeling better today...thank you Lord! Logan had a rough day today so hopefully tomorrow will be better. Dustin has not been sick thus far, although tonight he did take some cold and flu medicine because he felt achy. I guess working outside all day doesn't help him either since the temperature is in the 20s.

Besides our illness this week, the past few weeks have been crazy! The week of Thanksgiving was very busy. The weekend after Thanksgiving Day was packed with shopping, scrapbooking (both me) and golfing (Dustin). It was a nice holiday weekend. Then this past week was full even into the weekend until yesterday when I became my sickest! So, hopefully we are on the mend and I am praying that Dustin doesn't get sick.

That's all for now. Hopefully I will write another (more exciting) post tomorrow! Too tired tonight!

Future Golfer ?

One night last week, Logan and I were waiting for Dustin to get home from work. I was sitting in the chair reading a magazine and Logan was playing with his toys. He has always loved carrying around a bat that he got for his birthday. He usually drags it behind him or carries it on his shoulder. Well, this particular night I happened to look up and he was "golfing." Now, I know that you all may think I am crazy, but look at the pictures! My baby has perfect form.

We have always played baseball with him but have never showed him specifically how to golf. I was laughing so hard at him because when he would get in the golfing stance and hit the ball (or try to) he would grunt or yell. It was hysterical. He would usually miss and end up hitting me in the knee!

I ran to get my camera to take some pictures, but of course, because of the delay when using the digital camera, I missed a number of poses. I kept putting the ball in front of him and telling him to swing. After 5 minutes or so of deleting pictures after taking them, I finally got the two pictures below.

So, this is what I am thinking, if we start him golfing now, then in 15-20 years he can become a professional golfer, make lots of money and support his mom and dad! Who knows!

It's Been A While...

I am still a part of the blog world, just haven't written in a while. Here are a couple of things that have happened since I've last blogged...

First, (going back a few weeks) we are very sad that the Detroit Tigers did not win the World Series. It was a bit tough around here for a few days. We are reminding ourselves that they actually made it to the World Series, which was a huge accomplishment, instead of reliving the loss over and over. There is always next year!!

Halloween was fun! Logan was the cutest lion I have ever seen. We had tried on his costume a few weeks before Halloween to make sure it fit and he wasn't too thrilled with it at the time. This made me nervous all day Halloween. I didn't know if he was going to put it on or not. I had to somewhat force it on him at first, but then he did good the rest of the evening. He actually wore it until all of the grandparents and aunts and uncles had seen him. Mommy was very proud of him.

Dustin and I actually went to a movie last weekend with my brother and sister-in-law. It was very nice to get away from the house to be an adult for a few hours. I won't tell you which movie we saw, but it was good. We thought it was a comedy but it was also a bit suspenseful. At one point, the movie got a bit tense and Amy and I were sitting next to each other with Dustin and Scott on each end and all of a sudden something happened in the movie and both Amy and I screamed! Yes, that is right. Two grown women screamed in the middle of a movie theater. I seriously am laughing about it now as I type! After the screaming stopped, we proceeded to laugh as quietly as possible for the next 5 minutes. I couldn't even look at Amy without laughing. Because I was laughing so hard, I began to cry also. I swear, Dustin can't take me anywhere!

We celebrated Dustin's birthday last Saturday. He got to sleep in and watch a bunch of football games throughout the day. I, however, felt the need to clean everything that day. I totally cleaned and organized our bedroom, Logan's bedroom, the kitchen, dining room, living room and some of the upstairs storage area. Whew!!! Later that night, we had our parents and siblings over for Chinese food and cupcakes (birthday boy's choice!). It was nice to have everyone together, however, Dustin and I have decided that the older you get, the less exciting birthdays are!

(Daddy and Logan opening
Daddy's birthday card!)

Well, that is it for now. I promise to update more often and not just overload you with one huge post! Have a great day!

(This picture has nothing to do
with anything referenced in
my post, but isn't it the cutest?!
I got Logan up and out of bed
one morning, but apparently
he wasn't ready to start his day, yet!)

Prayer Request

I write this entry with a heavy heart. For a few months now, I have been eavesdropping on a particular blog about a little boy, Eliot, who was born this past summer with what is called Trisomy 18 or Edward's syndrome. Babies with this syndrome have an extra #18 chromosone. This syndrome is usually fatal. Babies who have it usually die before birth and those that do make it through the birth process only live a few days. Some babies (>10%) will live 1 year. Little Eliot was born on July 20th and went Home to be with Jesus this past Friday,October 27th. He lived to be over 3 months old.

The family's website is www.mattandginny.blogspot.com. I would encourage you to read all of the entries on this blog. Little Eliot and his parents have touched my heart and life in a way that I will never be the same. My heart aches for them as I can't imagine how they must feel, yet, my heart is also so full of thankfulness to them for sharing their story with us. It is clearly evident throughout their blog that they have been blessed by God with Eliot and have trusted Him everyday with their son. They have learned that everyday is truly a special day and a gift from God. None of us are promised tomorrow. Their testimony that is shared throughout their blog is one that will always be near to my heart.

Please say a special prayer for Eliot's parents and keep them in your prayers for the days and months to come. In the blog they state that they are sad and they miss their son, but ask that we don't mourn for them. They are happy that their son is finally well and is Home.

Weekend Catch-Up

We had a good but busy weekend this past weekend. Let me tell you a bit about it...

First, we have been having furnace problems for weeks now. We are unable to use our furnace as it stands. We have had a couple of people look at it and we had to replace parts but it still isn't working. We are waiting for a friend to come back and look at it. So, Dustin, Logan, Rudy and I all stay warm at night in the same room with a electric heater that Dustin's parents are letting us use. We just move it from room to room throughout the day. So, it was a chilly weekend.

Next, Dustin and my brother Scott were able to go to the Tigers World Series Game #1. They did lose but the guys had an awesome time. Dustin and Scott have to be two of the biggest Tiger fans. When they got home Saturday night, they were dissapointed but happy to be a part of the World Series! While they were at the game, Logan and I visited with my parents and then hung out with my sister-in-law and my nephews until the guys got home. It was a big day for Logan, playing with Grandma and Papa and his cousins all in one day. He had a blast!

Also on Saturday, my baby cousin (no she's not such a baby anymore, I just refuse to admit she is an adult and is in her second year of college!), Sarah came by for a visit. It was so good to visit with her for a while. I love her like a little sister and miss her when she's at school. Logan loves her too! (Hey Sarah!!)

Sunday, we went to church with some of our family and then out to eat afterward. It was very nice. I miss all of our family being together. Then we had my parents and brother and his family over for Game #2 of the World Series and the Tigers won!!!! : ) We were so excited. The game got a little tense at times, but we prevailed! Go Tigers! They are going to win the World Series, I know it!

Now for one of the highlights of my weekend, but first, let me say that I have a problem. I reading problem. I know that doesn't sound bad, but it is! I am addicted to the books of a Christian author by the name of Karen Kingsbury. She is a fantastic fiction author. I can't say enough about her books. Any way, a couple of years ago a friend of mine got me interested in one of her series. It is the "Redemption" series. This was before I had Logan and let me tell you that I read non-stop. Dustin would make fun of me. There are 5 books in this series and I would finish a book and have to get the other immediately! It got so out of control, that one night while I was praying I actually asked God to bless the family in the books!! How crazy is that!

I finished the "Redemption" series and then there are two series spin-offs from that series. The first one is the "Firstborn" series. Now, because I am all caught up on reading these books I have to wait for Karen Kingsbury to write the next book in the series. Well, book #4 was due to come out this month. I checked the internet daily and also called the bookstores to see if they had the book. I had called Barnes & Noble last week and they said they would email me when they had the book for me. They said it was due to come out on the 28th! Fine I thought. Well, Thursday when I checked my email, guess what I saw! You betch ya, an email saying the book was in! I was so excited and couldn't wait for Dustin to get home from work! Later that night, I marched right up to the bookstore and purchased my copy. Now, I only read about 9 pages that night because I have to pace myself. Once I get into a book, that is all I think about. I don't want to be a neglective mother to Logan and sit him in front of the T.V. all day while I read. I had a plan that I would try to take my time. That theory went out the window Friday night! I, however, only read during Logan's nap time or when he went to bed for the night. I finished the book, all 330 some pages last night! Now do you see why I have a problem. The saddest part for me is that the last book in this series doesn't come out until Spring 2007. Oh, and did I mention that I again thought to pray for the family Saturday night! That is why I love these books. They are fiction books, that seem so real! I encourage you all to go out...run, don't walk and purchase these books! You will not regret it.

World Series, Here We Come!

We are so excited that the Detroit Tigers are in the World Series. It was an awesome end to the game when Magglio Ordonez hit the home run and the Tigers won the ALCS. While we were very excited that the Tigers won, we were a bit sad because we didn't have a game to go to the next day (we had tickets to game 5). However, because we didn't have a game to go to, we were able to go and meet Logan's future wife, Miss Emma, for the first time. We visited with our friends and there 11 day old daughter. She is just so precious!

I actually have missed watching Tiger baseball this week. We are looking forward to the weekend with the first few games of the World Series. I got up Monday morning and got on the computer and on the phone and tried to get tickets to one of the games here in Detroit. However, after an hour of trying, I came up empty-handed. While it would have been awesome to be there in person for one of the games, we will be just fine watching all of the action on TV. We may even have a Tiger party!!

Wouldn't it be awesome if the Detroit Tigers won the World Series? Who would have ever thought?

Detroit Tiger Baseball

I have been watching and going to Detroit Tiger baseball games since I was a little girl. One fond memory from my childhood is when my grandpa Arnold would by tickets for his grandchildren, our dads and himself and we would all go to a Tiger game every year.

Now that I am a wife and mother, Tiger baseball is still a part of my life. Dustin, who is a complete sports fanatic, has watched pretty much every Tiger game of the season. Logan, has also come to like baseball. He sits on Daddy's lap and watches the games. We even had a Detroit Tigers first birthday party for Logan. How obsessed are we?!

So, now that the Tigers are in the playoffs and have not only advanced but beaten the New York Yankees, we are going crazy! How crazy you might ask...well, Dustin and I paid around $90 per ticket to go to next Sunday's game (if there is a game 5). Now, I know that $90 for a playoff ticket for a seat at the game is not too much, however, did I not mention that I don't even get a seat! We bought "standing room only" tickets. Yes, that is how excited we are about the Tigers being in the playoffs. Not only are we crazy about buying tickets, but I looked at the weather forecast for next Sunday and right now they are predicting it to be 50 degrees and showers are possible. Taking all of those factors into consideration, we still are very excited to go and plan on having a blast!

Go Tigers!!

Oh Happy Day!

We are very excited here in the Michels' household today. You see, Logan's future wife was born yesterday!! : ) Isn't it funny that he can't say wife yet, however, I already have his picked out for him? Our dear friends had their first baby yesterday. We are so thrilled that Little Miss Emma is finally here. Congratulations to our friends and their family!

Life List

Have you heard of a "life list?" It is a list of things you wish to accomplish in your lifetime. I first heard about this type of list on television. The items on this list can be something very simple to something very extravagant. I think it is an awesome idea so I started my own life list today and am already on #37! Here are a few items (in no particular order) on my life list:

1. Be more patient (If you know me, you know that I am not patient!)

2. Be the type of woman described in Proverbs 31 (This is the portrait of a Godly woman)

3. Have another baby (Hopefully a little girl, but would be just as ecstatic with a boy!)

4. Go to a University of Michigan home football game with my husband
(Dustin loves UM football and I would love to be with him at a home game.
We have gone to a couple of away games, but never a home game together.)

5. Get a piece of jewelry in a turquoise box with a white bow (from Tiffany's!)
(Have you seen the movie "Sweet Home Alabama"? It takes my breath away
when Andrew takes Melanie into Tiffany's and tells her to pick out a ring!!! Oh my goodness!)

6. Make a pie from scratch (I have always wanted to make one and take to a family gathering to show it off!)

7. Be an audience member at one of Oprah's shows
(I think it would be an awesome "girls get-a-way" to spend a weekend in Chicago and go to one of the Oprah shows!)

8. Be a prayer warrior (I want to have a better prayer life; not just pray when things are bad but all the time)

9. Go on a family vacation with my husband and child(ren) to Disney World (The ultimate family vacation!)

10. Make a quilt (I actually have looked into doing this. It is a bit more complicated than I originally thought, but would still love to make one!)

There are a lot more items on my list. I can't wait to start checking some of them off. When I check my first item off, I will be sure to let everyone know. I would encourage you to make a "life list" too. I think it helps put life into perspective. You get to see what is important to you and what your dreams for life are whether big or small.

What A Day!

My day started at 9:15 am when I was awakened by my brother and his 4 1/2 year old son banging on my front door while our dog was barking like crazy. It was then that I remembered I had forgotten to reset my alarm after Dustin got up for work. I knew that my nephew, Zachery, was coming to spend the morning with us. My plan was to get up no later than 8:30 am to shower and dress before Zachery arrived. Well, obviously that didn't happen.

Zachery came in an immediately went to Logan's room. Logan was now awake because of all the noise! Logan was ecstatic to see his cousin and even let out a squeal when Zachery flipped on his bedroom light. Once I got Logan up and in his chair for breakfast and turned on Blues Clues for the boys, I jumped in for one of the quickest showers I've ever had! You see, it was "Story Time" at Borders today at 11 am. Well, I got myself ready, Logan ready, packed the diaper bag and we were out the door by 10:35 am. I was pretty proud of myself!

We arrive at story time and had a good time. All the kids made treasure maps. Zachery asked Aunt Stacey to help him and I felt very privileged to do so. I can't believe that my little Zachery is 4 1/2 years old. It seems like yesterday my brother, Scott, called me early one Saturday morning to tell me that Zachery was here! Zachery and I used to be best friends. We even had a "best friends" song. Now, he is much to old to have his aunt be his best friend, let alone sing our song with me! Zachery was the first grandchild on my side of the family and I abused my power as his aunt every chance I got! I would spoil him like crazy and wake him up from sleep to play with him. All sorts of bad things! : ) Amy is now paying me back by doing the same with Logan!!

So, after story time we met Amy at McDonalds for lunch and then she took Zachery home with her. Logan and I came home and napped for 2 1/2 hours. Did I mention that I am getting a cold and couldn't wait to get back into bed?! Thank you Logan for taking such a good nap today and letting Mommy rest.

We woke up from our naps, read some books, listened to music, cleaned up a little and waited for Caleb, my 2 year old nephew to arrive for the evening!! Dustin called me earlier in the day and when I answered the phone he wanted to know if he had reached "Stacey's Day Care." : )

When Amy dropped Caleb off, he started playing right away. Logan was the one that was upset and cried at the front door when his Aunt Mimi left! The boys played together nicely. My parents came by and we all had dinner and waited for Zachery to be dropped off for a bit this evening. Scott, who is a youth pastor, and Amy had an activity with the youth tonight.

So, for about 30 minutes tonight all three boys were running all over the house, from room to room, laughing and playing and just enjoying themselves. Everyone left our house at about 10 or 10:30 tonight! Boy am I tired. It was a eventful day and I enjoyed every minute of it. Logan loves his cousins and loves when they come over. I am so thankful that we are a big part of their lives and Aunt Stacey loves them to pieces! I am now ready for bed and while my living room and Logan's room are still a mess...I think the mess can wait until tomorrow!

**Sorry for not posting pictures of our fun day, but my camera is not working properly!**

Hurricane Katrina Babies

I remember the night before Hurricane Katrina hit. Dustin and I were watching all of the news reports discussing the hurricane as it prepared to hit land. I remember going to bed that night a bit scared for all of the people in the way of the hurricane. Never could I or anyone imagine the devastation that would be the result of the hurricane.

Tonight, I watched the tv show "Hurricane Katrina Babies" on the Discovery Channel. It tells the story of 5 or 6 women who were directly hit by the hurricane. A couple of the women had babies prematurely before the hurricane hit. Because of the devastation, the babies had to be moved to a different hospital. Some of the babies were moved without their mothers. Some of the mothers were separated from their husbands. One mother who was in labor had to swim in the murky water to find help. I honestly can't imagine the horror and fear these parents went through. I think of my own birth experience with Logan. I can't imagine being separated from him after he was born or even Dustin for that matter. It is truly eye opening to me that all of this has gone on in our very own country. This show truly touched my heart. (Side note: All of the babies lived although, some have health issues. All of the parents were reunited with their children and each other. Most of the families don't have homes of their own because they were destroyed in the hurricane, so they are still in need of help.)

As I am hear in my home tonight, safe, with my son asleep in his crib and my husband watching football in the living room, I truly thank God for giving me both of my guys. I am thankful for my family yet prayerful for all of the families who have had to deal with Hurricane Katrina and the devastation it has caused. I pray that they are able to get the much needed help that they deserve. I pray for those people who are dealing with issues that I have no idea about and I pray that I will never forget Hurricane Katrina and all of those directly impacted by it.

The Wait is Over !!

Well, tonight was the night I've been waiting for since last May. The season premiere of Grey's Anatomy FINALLY aired. It seems like a lifetime ago since last season. I have seen all of the talk shows that Patrick Dempsey and any of the other Grey's Anatomy cast have been on this week in anticipation for tonight.

I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed tonight's episode. Sometimes with season premieres, there is so much hype surrounding the first episode, that at times, that the show is a let down. This was not the case tonight. I thought it was a great show. I almost cried a couple of times. Dr. McDreamy did not disappoint me either. There is something about Patrick Dempsey that makes my heart skip a beat. Don't worry, Dustin is fully aware of my crush and is O. K. with it!

Now that the first episode of the season is over, I find myself wishing it was already next Thursday to see the second episode. I am addicted!!

Story Time and My Big Boy

On Wednesdays at Border's Bookstore at our local mall they have a story time for kids. Logan and I have been going for a while with my sister-in-law and nephews. Story time involves an employee reading a book to the kids, then they do some sort of craft and have a snack. It really is a lot of fun for the kids to interact and then for us moms to have a bit of adult conversation.

Logan enjoys all of the stories. He loves books. For only being 16 months old, he does a good job listening when the story is being read. Craft time is a different story. A lot of the crafts are geared towards older children, so usually we just sit back and enjoy watching everyone. Today, however, involved coloring fall pictures and cut out wooden leaves and acorns.

Now, Logan has tried coloring at restaurants before on the little placemats they give you. He actually likes to balance the little crayon on the placemat with his pointer finger more than coloring. The lady in charge of story time brought out some BIG crayons today and I thought we would try it out. Well, let me just say he loved it. I had him sitting in his stoller (because I was not about to spend all of story time chasing him around Borders!) and put one of the wooden cut out leaves on his tray and gave him a crayon. I colored a bit of the leaf to show him how it was done. I know that he is only 16 months old, but he did a good job. By good job, I mean he colored the leaf a little. It was the cutest thing. It made me realize how quickly he is growing up.

A close friend of mine is due to have her first baby in less than two weeks. I have been thinking about her a lot and have thought about myself at her stage of pregnancy a little over 16 months ago. I can't believe my baby is getting so big, so fast. It seems like yesterday we were anxiously awaiting the arrival of Logan. It was such and exciting yet scary time. There is nothing like holding a newborn baby, especially when the newborn baby is yours! Could it be that I am getting the "baby itch" for a sibling for Logan? : )

Enjoy the pictures of Logan showing Daddy his leaf and then a picture of the leaf itself. It is colored but you can't tell too well in the picture. Trust me, it is the most beautifully colored leaf ever!

Joy Journal

I am a "journaler." When I put my thoughts in writing, it helps me to gain perspective on any certain situation. I have kept journals for years. At times, I like to look back and see how far (or little) I have come.

As I was looking back at some older entries, I noticed that entry after entry was filled with troubled times when I needed God to give me a "happy ending." I came to a realization that I needed to include more entries of thankfulness for the blessings I have been given. God has truly blessed me with so many things, yet I sometimes don't take the time to thank Him. In hard times, I "pray without ceasing," asking God to answer my prayer." In good times, I don't always thank God for the peace and quietness of life.

I realized I needed to change this aspect of my life. I should always "pray without ceasing," in good times and in bad. I don't want to be the type of Christian who only calls on God when things are not going good. I want to go to Him and thank Him for all of my blessings, too. Even in those not-so-good times I want to remember and think on all of the good aspects of my life. This is what prompted me to start a "joy journal."

The "joy" part of my journal is that I always end each entry with what has brought me joy that particular day. Basically, I thank God for the blessings I have received that day. Even if I don't write an entry on any day, I still list at least a couple of things I am thankful for that day. I may write something as big as getting home safely from a trip or being healed of a sickness. It may also be as simple as Logan giving me a big hug or Dustin getting home on time from work. I just want to make a point to be thankful for what I have and to not take it for granted. I also want to learn to focus on the positive and not the negative. (For those that know me, you know that I tend to think the worst of things!)

So, I will share a few things I wrote in my "joy journal" for today.

Thankful For:
1. Today's is Dustin's last day of being "on-call" at work.
2. Logan blowing me kisses tonight before he went to sleep.
3. Our friends the Metcalfs, who will soon be moving out of state.
4. Fall will be here soon. (My favorite time of the year!)
5. Only 3 days to the season premiere of Grey's Anatomy! (Can't wait for McDreamy!)

I want to encourage all who read this entry to remember to stop and thank God for the blessings they have received. It will make a difference in your life...it has mine!

Greenfield Village with the Cousins

Logan and I went to Greenfield Village today with my brother Scott, his wife Amy and their boys, Zachery (4) and Caleb (2). We had a lot of fun! Greenfield Village is such a nice place to go and walk around or ride around as we did today. We rode a Model T from 1914, a bus from 1937, the carousel and the train.

Zachery just loves trains. He is very into Thomas the Train. He has quite a number of trains that he collects. He loves to line them all up and play with them. It was such a treat to see him on the BIG train today. I think that this picture is just so precious of him on the train looking out.

Caleb is also a lot of fun. He is quite a busy little boy though. He is our Bam-Bam! We let the kids run around in an open field and he and Logan were running and hugging each other and then Caleb pulled that back of Logan's shirt then pushed him down. Of course, Logan was fine but Amy was quick to let Caleb know that this action was not acceptable. She told Caleb to tell Logan that he was sorry. So Caleb did as he was told and said sorry to Logan then started laughing hysterically. It was pretty funny to watch! Here is a picture of Caleb and Logan on the train while we were stopped.

The pictures below of are all of us on the carousel. We rode the carousel with a group of school kids who must have been on a field trip. It was quite interesting being a part of that group. The Greenfield Village worker ran down a list of rules for riding before they started the ride. Once the ride started it was quite evident that the kids where not following the rules. Amy and I were laughing because we knew one day that would be our boys with their school acting the same way! Oh, the joy of raising boys!!! : )

This last picture is my favorite. We were looking at the horses and one of them came right up to us. The kids went nuts. They were so excited to see the horse up close.

Well, we had a very fun but tiring day. As you can tell by this last picture. Logan was already asleep by the time we made the 15 minute drive home!

So, I hope that you enjoyed the many pictures of our day at Greenfield Village. It truly is a fun place to visit. If you haven't been and are in the area, I encourage you to go!

Grandma Ozzie

I found this picture of Logan sitting in my Grandma Ozzie's rocking chair yesterday. Logan wasn't able to meet his Great-Grandma Ozzie because in January 2005, she lost her 10 month battle with leukemia and went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ.

My Grandma Ozzie was one of the most inspirational people in my life. She taught me to always put God first. She was a strong Christian woman who lived her life for her Savior. Even when she was sick and in the hospital she would tell us all that "God has a plan and He makes no mistakes."

The hardest part for me is that she never got to hold my precious son. She passed when I was 5 months pregnant. I am, however, very thankful that before she went home to be with Jesus she knew I was pregnant, knew I was having a boy and knew that his name was Logan.

I was just telling Logan yesterday about his Grandma Ozzie and how if she were here, she would love him to pieces and make such a fuss over him. I look forward to telling Logan stories about his Great-Grandma Ozzie when he gets older.

I miss my Grandma but know that she will always be close to my heart and that one day I will see her again in heaven.

Tonight, I finally came up with one! So, I hope you all enjoy my blog. It will be a way to stay in touch with me and my family. I know that the world is a busy place these days. We don't always have or find the time to check in with one another. So, now you all can check in on us through my blog. I will try to post something new every few days. Have a great day!
